COLLEGEDALE, TN. (WRCB) -- A search is underway for a student pilot who was ejected from a small plane Friday evening.
Police say the man fell from the plane as it was taking a nose-dive.
The instructor was able to land the plane safely at the Collegedale Airport.
Officials are not sure where the man landed, but say a search is underway in Bradley County. The instructor is helping with the search.
According to Flight Aware records, the ZODIAC 601XL plane was built by Clarence Kendrick Andrews, a Signal Mountain pilot who was killed in a plane crash in December 2012.
Channel 3 has confirmed the Andrews family sold the plane to the student pilot earlier this month. He hired an instructor to learn to fly it.
Crews have divided into teams Weather Switch Road to search by foot for the missing man, who authorities have not yet identified.
