Jagged steel jutting out onto busy West Paces Ferry.
ATLANTA -- Normally, storm grates that damage wheels and puncture tires, are sinking beneath the surface of the street. But a culvert on West Paces Ferry near Rinman Drive across from Pace Academy is damaging vehicles in a different way.
After the recent re-striping of West Paces Ferry, and the addition of a turning lane near Pace Academy, the road now seems narrower to drivers, forcing them closer to the shoulder.
This culvert sits right on the edge of the road and has been struck numerous times by vehicles, shredding the protective concrete and exposing jagged steel.
Driver Natalie Wilson lost two tires here and the $1,400 price tag prompted her to contact 11Alive's Commuter Dude.
