LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The arrival of spring is the kick-start to the spring cleaning season for many. The 11Alive Help Desk wants to make you aware of a free recycling event taking place at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville on Saturday, April 13 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Do you have recyclables, tires or electronics that you have been holding onto but didn't know how to dispose of? The Gwinnett County Solid Waste and Recovered Materials will be glad to take them off of your hands in honor of Earth Day at 2500 Buford Drive.
The event is free, allowing residents to dispose of a variety of materials that are often cluttering their homes and garages.
For a fee of $10 cash, the county will even recycle TVs. A limit of eight tires per vehicle will be accepted, although dealer tires will not be handled.
Residents can also shred paper documents at the event and pass off up to five one-gallon paint cans per vehicle, although no rusted cans, paint thinners, or dried-up paint can be collected. The unused paint will be donated to Global Paint for Charity, an Atlanta non-profit organization.
