ATLANTA -- Georgia Tech has rolled out the 2013-14 men's basketball schedule, with two conference newcomers set to meet the team in Atlanta.
According to Georgia Tech Athletics, Notre Dame and Pittsburgh will take on the Yellow Jackets at home, along with Boston College, Clemson, Duke, Miami, North Carolina, Virginia and Virginia Tech. Georgia Tech will compete in away games versus the rest of the ACC pack: Syracuse, Florida State, Maryland, NC State and Wake Forest.
Head coach Brian Gregory returns for his third season with Georgia Tech to lead four returning starters from last year.
"Whenever you play five projected top-25 teams (Duke, North Carolina, Virginia, Notre Dame, Pitt) at home, and defending ACC champion Miami on top of that, you know that your program is facing a big challenge," Gregory said. "Our hope is to continue to build and to be well-prepared for the challenges the ACC has to offer."
The next step for the ACC, which will take place over the next few weeks, is to design a "shell" that matches teams up to play in a sequential schedule on Wednesdays and Saturdays. That schedule will run from January 4 - March 8, 2014.
Later in the spring, Georgia Tech season ticket holders will be able to either renew or upgrade their seats. Renewal information will be sent out to them. Non-ticketholders can submit a deposit no later than April 29 to get new season tickets.
Of the new ACC teams, the Yellow Jackets have taken on the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame more times than any other team in the conference. They have faced each other eight times since 1941; Georgia Tech has taken six of those wins.
In all-time matchups against Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech has won all five. Most recently in December 1989, the Yellow Jackets dominated the Panthers 111-92. That game was played in Atlanta's Omni Center.
Georgia Tech and Syracuse are neck-and-neck at 2-2 for an all-time record. Syracuse has won the last two games, played in 2010 and 2002.
