Suspects burglarize home in Hampton
HAMPTON, Ga -- More and more homeowners are fighting crime using high tech surveillance cameras. Another homeowner has contacted 11 Alive News because they want to help police catch two burglars who broke into their home. And they have video to prove it.
A digital camera on the outside of Terry and Donna King's home in Hampton kept a close eye on two suspects who broke into their home. The King's went to the bank on Monday afternoon and when they came home the burglars had come and gone. "We were only gone maybe an hour," Terry King said. "It just so happens that they left fifteen minutes before we drove in."
The two suspects broke into the King's home through a back door and went directly to their bedroom where they stole jewelry, cash, the couple's social security cards and their birth certificates. They also took a 45-caliber handgun. "It seems like they take some of your vulnerability from you," King said. "Then you worry a little bit if they're going to come back."
King said he has frozen all of his bank accounts and plans to fortify his home. "We'll take more precautions," he said. "I'll make sure the doors are more secure where they can't break in as easy." He also said he will add more cameras around his home.
Anyone who has information about the burglary is asked to call the Clayton County Police Department. You can also call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS(8477).
