COBB COUNTY, Ga. -- Student and parents showed up in large numbers at the Cobb County Public School board meeting on Thursday evening.

While the counties budget was not on the agenda during their Thursday night meeting it was certainly on the minds of many parents who are worried that hundreds of teachers may be cut to help balance it.

The meeting started off with the recognition of top seniors from Cobb County Schools. The students were awarded tonight with cash scholarships for academic excellence.

The parents think their achievement is due in part to hard work and supportive parents but they also they it's due to the work of great teachers.

Now, the challenge for the board is how to keep more than 200 teachers from being let go to help make up for an $86 million dollar budget shortfall.

And the budget will be discussed a special meeting on Monday.

As of now, everything's on the table from a proposed shorter school week to finding ways around at least some of the teacher cuts.
