Well, I thought last Thursday's surgery was a breeze, felt pretty good all weekend but all of a sudden started having a lot of pain and swelling yesterday.
It turns out I have a complication called a Seroma, some trapped fluid where the 5 lymph nodes were removed. I also have a possible infection. Both are easily treatable, just inconvenient and painful.
I also found out today that I will need a second cancer surgery because the pathology report indicates there is a possibility there may still be some cancer cells present. The cancer was 2.5 centimeters, slightly bigger than the doctors thought and it is considered Stage Two, but still with an excellent prognosis.
Why? Early Detection! All five lymph nodes tested negative for cancer cells!
That news takes a lot of the anxiety out of cancer! Not all, but enough that I still feel like I Can Do This. Surgery Number Two is set for Wednesday, May 8th.
If you're late for a mammogram or a self exam, there's no time like the present!
