In the "Facts for Life: Breast Cancer Detection" page, the Susan G. Komen foundation educates women on signs they should not ignore when it comes to breast health:

The document reports that women should "be aware of any change in your breast or underarm area," and to see a healthcare provider if you notice any of the following signs:

Lumps, hard knot or thickening inside the breast or underarm area; swelling, warmth, redness, or darkening of the breast; change in size or shape of the breast; dimpling or puckering of the skin; itchy, scaly or sore rash on the nipple; pulling in of your nipple or other parts of the breast; nipple discharge that starts suddenly; or new pain in one spot that does not go away.
