WXIA -- Imagine a world where $1 tacos and enchiladas are the 'norm' -- well, that world may soon come to fruition. And Taco Bell is working to make it a possibility.

On a Thursday afternoon call, Taco Bell executives announced that they may soon be rolling out a $1 menu. The Mexican fast food chain is testing their new menu in Kansas City and Sacramento.

The menu includes new items like their Beefy Cheesy Burrito, Shredded Chicken Mini Quesadilla, Spicy Beef Mini Quesadilla and the Beef Crunchito.

According to Brian Niccol, Chief Marketing and Innovation Officer at Taco Bell and Chris Brandt, the VP of Brand Marketing, this new low-cost menu came about as a result of extensive consumer research.

Taco Bell is also advertising their new "Happier Hour," which features $1 regular drinks, Freezes or Limeade Sparklers. The Happier Hour launched in March.

The company has not yet created a timeline for their nationwide roll-out -- however, they indicate it may be soon.
