Outage causes long lines for int'l. flights at ATL airport

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. -- People travelling through Hartsfield-Jackson Airport are experiencing up to 90 minute delays while being processed through customs due to a nation-wide system outage.

U.S. Customs officials say the first outage lasted between 4:30 p.m. and 5:41 p.m. on Friday evening and then the system went down again around 5:55 p.m. The system has not yet been restored.

According to a spokesperson at with U.S. Customs, there have been 19 international flights that arrived into the airport since 4:30 p.m. many of those people are waiting in line. Some have missed connecting flights and now are being forced to re-book.

There are approximately 200 people in line at Concourse F and 400 in line at Concourse E. Until the system can be restored agents are using a manual, back-up system.
