CANTON, Ga. -- Former Atlanta Braves outfielder Otis Nixon was released from the Cherokee County Jail on Tuesday evening after his arrest over the weekend.
Nixon was pulled over on Interstate-575 in Canton just after midnight on Saturday. A Sheriff's deputy reported finding crack cocaine and a crack pipe in Nixon's Dodge Ram.
The 54-year-old passed a field sobriety test, according to a police report. He claimed the drugs belonged to his son.
Nixon left the Cherokee County Jail around 9:45 p.m. County officials say he was released on a property bond.
Nixon was known for his lightning-quick base stealing. And, as the video attached to this story shows, Nixon also made one of the most spectacular defensive plays in Braves history, a play known simply, and for all time, as "The Catch."
