CEDARTOWN, Ga. -- All of Polk County has been placed under a boil water advisory due to "insufficient treatment and system failure" at a local water treatment plant.
Polk County Water, Sewage and Solid Waste issued the advisory around 7:30 p.m after a system failure at the Deaton Springs Water Treatment Plant.
According to officials, a signal output module at the plant did not trigger alarms when water turbidity exceeded it's normal level.
The boil water advisory was put in place to protect residents from a potential health hazard.
Authorities say the advisory will stay in place until further notice. Updates will be provided as they become available.
