Atlanta Highway in Flowery Branch reopened

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The Georgia Department of Transportation reports State Route 13/Atlanta Highway was reopened at midnight Sunday.

The road, from Spout Springs Road to Wade Orr Road in Flowery Branch had been closed to traffic Sunday due to flooding.

GDOT said a 1/4 mile section of the road was covered by approximately six feet of water because drainage pipes meant to redirect rainwater away from the roadway were underwater. There was no place for water to drain away.

A boil water advisory remains in effect for Flowery Branch residents until 9pm Monday due to a water main rupture. Water service was restored to all of Flowery Branch as of 9 p.m Sunday.

Cantrell Road in Flowery Branch remains closed

Hall County School Superintendent Will Schofield said there will be roads in the county that buses will not be able to travel Monday morning. He said parents in those areas will have to transport their children to school Monday.
