JONESBORO, Ga. -- One of three suspected carjackers was shot and wounded early Monday morning following a police chase in Clayton County.
Clayton County Sheriff's deputies spotted a vehicle matching the description of a stolen car, driving without headlights, just before 2 a.m.
When the vehicle refused to stop, deputies began a chase which ended when the suspected stolen auto crashed head-on into a pickup truck in the 1,000 block of Brookstone Road.
Three men bailed out of the vehicle and ran.
One of the running suspects pulled out a gun and was shot in the leg by a pursuing deputy.
The man was transported to a hospital with a non-life threatening wound. His two accomplices are still on the loose.
The deputy involved has been placed on routine administrative leave while Clayton County authorities and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation investigate the incident.
No names were released.
