(USA Today) -- Former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson will serve 30 days in jail for violating probation in relation to a domestic violence case, but curious details from the courtroom in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., suggest Johnson may have cost himself a chance at avoiding jail. Johnson had reached a deal with prosecutors that would require counseling and community service, and Broward County Circuit Judge Kathleen McHugh would add three months of probation.

Via the AP:

"A plea deal that called for no jail time fell apart Monday. Broward Judge Kathleen McHugh rejected it after Johnson playfully slapped his attorney on the behind in court. McHugh says Johnson wasn't taking things seriously enough, even after he apologized. McHugh also extended Johnson's probation for three months."

McHugh was appalled by Johnson's actions in the courtroom.

"I don't know that you're taking this whole thing seriously. I just saw you slap your attorney on the backside. Is there something funny about this?" McHugh said, slapping the plea deal document down on her desk. "The whole courtroom was laughing. I'm not going to accept these plea negotiations. This isn't a joke."

TMZ has a GIF of the slap.
