ATLANTA -- More details are coming out about former Atlanta Hawks player Mookie Blaylock after a fatal crash last month in Clayton County.

Blaylock made his first court appearance Tuesday where it was revealed he has had six DUIs.

Though officials are not saying that's what caused the fatal wreck, prosecutors are already painting a picture.

Mookie Blaylock could not be further removed from his glory days as an Atlanta Hawk, sitting in a wheelchair, a white bandage on his forehead, listening to prosecutors make his troubled past with drugs and alcohol public.

Blaylock was driving that day without a license. It was suspended from a DUI in the fall.

Under Georgia law, habitual drunk drivers face increasingly stiff penalties with each new conviction. Drivers convicted of their fourth DUI within a ten-year period face felony instead of misdemeanor charges. That can mean lengthy jail sentences of a year or more.

Prosecutors say Blaylock's drunk driving arrests span three counties -- Cobb, Pike and Spalding.

The judge set Blaylock's bond at a quarter million dollars, ordering him under house arrest with a GPS tracking device, and weekly drug and alcohol tests.

After the hearing, Blaylock's attorney Don Samuel said his client was not under the influence of anything the day of the accident.
