ATLANTA -- Atlanta police say they are taking a closer look at a deadly shooting outside a store in Little Five Points after a security surveillance camera captures what "appears to be a second shooter" in the incident.
It happened at about 5:30 a.m. at Wish Atlanta on Moreland Avenue.
In a statement Saturday, Officer John Chafee said several customers were waiting outside to buy the new LeBron James shoes when a male suspect approached the group, produced a firearm and tried to rob them.
"One of the victims pulled his own handgun and shot the suspect," Officer Chafee said."A number of witnesses were interviewed and this appears to be self defense."
11Alive News discovered video surveillance from a restaurant next door that clearly shows another man with a gun who was shooting in the suspect's direction.
Now, Atlanta police say they too have looked at that video and released this statement Monday:
Subsequent to the initial investigation conducted on scene, Atlanta Police Homicide investigators have obtained a video that appears to show a second shooter in this incident. As in any criminal investigation, evidence is discovered throughout the process and thoroughly followed up on. We are aware of the video and are taking the appropriate steps to follow up on it.
