ATLANTA -- Atlanta police were investigating a report of a body found at Moondogs, in the 3100 block of Peachtree Road in Buckhead Tuesday morning.
Police said the body was found in the business by a cleaning crew. The owner of the bar told 11Alive news he'd never seen the man before. The crew arrived at 7:30 and saw the man hanging from an outside security fence.
There is only a clearance of six or seven inches between the top of the fence and the ceiling of the patio.
An Atlanta Police investigator said cops believe the man died accidentally while trying to rob the bar. He was climbing over a fence and got hung up in a way that asphyxiated him.
Homicide Commander Paul Guerucci told 11Alive News, "It appears that he got hung up on his neck. That's why we're saying possible asphyxiation. Exact cause of death is pending on the autopsy."
No other details were immediately available.
