MARIETTA, Ga. -- The 11Alive News Today morning show traveled back to Cobb County Friday for a broadcast on the Marietta Square.
Hundreds of residents turned out to show off all the things that make their town great.

The county seat of Cobb County is home to Dobbins Air Reserve Base, which brings enormous revenue and prestige to the city.

Marietta also boasts a seemingly endless number of unique restaurants. Cool Beans Coffee Roasters keeps residents caffeinated, while Sugar Cakes Patisserie satisfies their cravings for sweets. The world-famous Australian Bakery Cafe is best known for its authentic meat pies, but it also offers both emu and kangaroo burgers.

Eddie's Trick Shop is something of an institution, made famous by its fun merchandise, while the Marietta Gone With the Wind Museum houses exhibits and artifacts related to the Atlanta-set book and movie.

Friday morning, several dance groups turned out to show off their moves, including Rhythm Dance Center and Georgia Metropolitan Dance Theatre.

Members of Thimblerig Circus performed a couple of sideshow acts for the delighted crowd, while women from the Marietta North Cobb Jazzercise Center offered a high-energy demonstration.

A number of famous people call or called Marietta home, including Food Network star Alton Brown and country music singer Travis Tritt. Former Miss Cobb County Lace Larrabee grew up in the area; she is now a stand-up comedian and will open at Atlanta's Laughing Skull Lounge all weekend.

Another famous face just broke a world record in Marietta. Norman the Scooter Dog and his owner Karen stopped by the Square to talk about what the record-holding dog plans to do next.

Budding cooks from Young Chefs Academy appeared on the show and taught the anchors how to make a delicious yet healthy fruit salsa. In addition to the cooking school, Marietta is home to the Derby Darlins roller derby team and the Brumby Chair Company, which has been making rocking chairs for more than 100 years.
