Sinkhole started as a small crack.

DECATUR -- Neighbors in a Southeast Decatur subdivision are driving on safer ground this morning, after contacting 11Alive's Commuter Dude to help repair a growing sinkhole.

The hazard started as a small crack near the entrance to the Towne Park Community, but quickly developed into a giant underground cavern.

Neighbors say they tried to contact DeKalb County Roads and Drainage, but received no response. Possibly because DeKalb County crews had their hands full with the infamous Clairmont water main break that took a full week to fix.

Fortunately, the County was able to spare an extra set of hands after Team Commuter Dude got in touch.
