Georgia State Patrol officials say a sport utility vehicle being driven by Ryan Adrian Baird, of Douglasville, veered off the road as he was rounding a curve and hit a tree Monday evening.
Baird was off-duty at the time of the crash. Police spokeswoman Kim Jones says he worked with the department for just over three years and was assigned to the Airport Section of the department's Community Service Division.
