Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Edwin Ritter said police first received a call about a man firing a gun around the house. When officers arrived on the scene, the suspect, 38-year-old Russell Fowler, refused to leave the home and talk to them.
A SWAT team was called in to try to arrest Fowler.
There were other people inside the home before police arrived but they all escaped unharmed, Ritter said.
SWAT members made their way into the house shortly before 5 a.m. Friday, but the suspect was not there. He returned home at around 7:15 a.m. and was arrested.
Fowler was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center to be treated for a cut on his hand. He was then booked in the Gwinnett County Jail on charges of aggravation assault, simple battery and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
