ATLANTA -- A 21-year-old man has been charged with randomly shooting a driver who was looking for a family member.
The shooting happened at around 9:40 p.m. Sunday in front of a house on Birchberry Terrace in southwest Atlanta.
Fulton County Police Sgt. Scott McBride said the victim, whose name was not released, and two others were driving through the neighborhood to search for a family member who was distressed over something.
As they drove down Birchberry Terrace, Stephen Williams, who lives on the street, opened fire on the car, apparently for no reason, according to McBride.
The victim was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Williams was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
