ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Georgia Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) has just implemented a new call center to report abuse and neglect: 1-855-GA-CHILD.
11Alive News interviewed the Director of the Office of the Child Advocate, last week, and she discussed "obvious kinks" in the system and how she planned to remedy them.
DFCS claims they will begin monitoring incoming calls into the abuse and neglect hotline, in real time, and they will ensure these calls are being fielded, as they are received.
According to the agency's rollout plan, all GA counties will be connected to the hotline by February and all calls will be treated with the same importance by trained call takers.
DFCS has a goal of immediate response if its considered a life threatening abusive situation.
