900 Circle 75 Pkwy sold for $29.5 million 19 days before the Braves announced they would build a stadium across the street.

ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Braves are planning their new stadium adjacent to Circle 75 Parkway -- a low-key piece of property in a high-profile Cobb County spot. The announcement was November 11. 19 days earlier, records show three big pieces of property traded hands near the new stadium site.

  • 900 Circle 75 Parkway sold for $29.5 million dollars.
  • 1000 Circle 75 Pkwy sold for $4.15 million.
  • And 1100 Circle 75 Parkway sold for just over $11 million.

More than 17 acres changed hands for more than 44 million dollars-- right across the street from the stadium site. Debbie Dooley thinks insiders are already getting rich from a taxpayer backed project.

Dooley of the Atlanta Tea Party says her group is mustering political opposition to the stadium -- which goes to a Cobb county commission vote next week. She expects to put together the same coalition that successfully opposed the regional TSPLOST vote in the summer of 2012.

The director of the Cumberland CID says there's nothing suspicious about the land transactions prior to the stadium announcement.  "I just don't know how people could be making investments based on information very few people knew about,"said Tad Leithead, who says the stadium information was still a closely kept secret when those property deals were made. He says they merely reflect ongoing interest in a prime area.
