MADDEN, Miss. -- A Mississippi high school girls' basketball coach has resigned after being accused of biting a player in the face.
The Leake Academy player said the team was in a huddle during a timeout on Nov. 12 when coach Doyle Wolverton bit her cheek.
A deputy took pictures of the girl's bite mark, then she was taken to the emergency room.
Wolverton, who had been with the school for 38 years and has a record of more than 1,200 career wins, resigned.
The girl's family is not pressing charges.
