MARIETTA, Ga. -- A Marietta man and his wife are in the hospital after a domestic dispute that ended with a house fire.
Police spokesman David Baldwin said the incident began at around 1:20 a.m. Friday in a unit at the Amberly at Powers Ferry apartment complex on Winterset Parkway.
Juan Espinal, 55, is accused of stabbing his wife multiple times, then driving to a house on Brookhaven Drive off Bells Ferry Road.
Baldwin said Espinal set his car on fire, then set the Brookhaven Drive house on fire. Police believe the house or its residents may have been part of the original domestic dispute.
The residents of the Brookhaven Drive house were not hurt in the fire.
Espinal was found unconscious on Chastain Road under Interstate 75 several hours after the fire. He was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in serious condition. His wife was taken to the same hospital in stable condition.
Baldwin said police have secured a warrant for Espinal for aggravated assault. More charges are pending.
