ATLANTA - MARTA announced Monday evening that rail service would run more slowly Tuesday morning due to the extreme cold expected overnight.
The agency said in a release that in order to ensure the safety of everyone, a winter operations plan would be in effect, which forces trains to run more slowly -- at least until temperatures rise to 10 degrees or higher. Once the outdoor temperature reaches 10 degrees, trains will be permitted to resume normal speeds.
MARTA says its bus routes will run on a normal weekday schedule. MARTA Mobility service for paratransit customers will also be in operation on Tuesday.
For scheduling information, commuters can contact MARTA's customer information center from 7 a.m. through 7 p.m. weekdays at 404-848-5000.
