MACON, Ga. (AP) -- Emergency officials in middle Georgia say no one was injured when a Macon Transit Authority bus burst into flames on Interstate 75 Tuesday afternoon.
MTA Executive Director Rick Jones said the driver called his office to report mechanical difficulties. Jones says the agency dispatched a second bus to finish off the driver's route.
Jones says the bus caught on fire when it was being driven back to MTA headquarters.
Macon-Bibb County fire officials quickly extinguished the blaze. The fire left a plume of smoke hovering over the northbound lanes of the freeway afterward.
