MARIETTA --  Sitting at the Come and Get It cafe, Lexi Allaway and her sister Jazmin jumped from the counter to go see the verdict on the television.

"That doesn't make any sense. What was there to debate. Murder is murder," said Jazmin Allaway.

She's referring to the mistrial on a murder charge against 47 year old Michael Dunn.  The jury found Dunn guilty of four other counts, but failed to decide whether he murdered Jordan Davis.

The Allaway sisters were close friends of Jordan Davis.

Davis, also from Marietta, was visiting Jacksonville, Florida two years ago when he was shot and killed.

Police say Dunn pulled up to a convenience store and asked Davis and other teenagers parked in a car to turn down their loud music.

Dunn had described the music to his fiancee as "thug music".

During the trial, Dunn said he feared for his life when he shot at the teens in the SUV.

A mistrial was declared on the murder charge.  The 12 jurors found him guilty of three counts of attempted second-degree murder and a count of firing into an occupied car.

"[Dunn] put my friend in the ground. He shot ten shots into the car and three of those hit Jordan. So, how do you not call that murder," said Jazmin Allaway.

The Allaway family lived just down the street from Davis and Davis' mom and stepfather.  The two families became close and often shared dinners and went on several trips together.

"It is heartbreaking what has happened to Jordan and his family. A mistrial just prolongs what has been a very painful process. Every day is painful," said Lexi Allaway.

Florida State Attorney Angela Corey said her office will retry Dunn on a first-degree murder charge.

"Even a guilty verdict won't feel like justice. How do you find justice in a case like this. Jordan is still gone," said Lexi Allaway.
