By Mike Foss (USA TODAY Sports) LeBron James took a hard hit on the nose during Thursday night's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Serge Ibaka tried to prevent James from throwing down the jam, but could only manage to swat LeBron's face, drawing blood.
After the game, James shared concept art of what his facemask could look like in the days to come.
James of course is paying homage to Bane, the Batman villain. Bane grew up in Peña Dura prison in the Caribbean, serving a life sentence for the crimes of his father. Over time, he built his mind and body to a point of seemingly insurmountable strength and knowledge.
LeBron plays basketball, so basically the same person.
OK LeBron isn't a supervillian but he does need protection for his schnoz in the immediate future. So why not wear a diabolical headpiece? It's better than wearing a Rip Hamilton facemask like a shmo. LeBron is better than an everyman facemask. He needs something more powerful, more dominant.
