ATLANTA -- Elana Meyers is back home from Sochi and finally relaxing after a whirlwind Winter Olympics that saw her win the silver medal in women's bobsled.

The pride of Douglasville stopped by the 11Alive studio Monday morning to talk about her Olympic adventure.

She and teammate Lauryn Williams missed the gold medal by only .10 seconds -- a defeat that has inspired Meyers to train harder for the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics.

"I was so close to gold in 2014," she said. "I think I was a little bit disappointed, but whenever you come out with a medal for your country, you can't be too disappointed."

Still, it was a history-making run for both women. Meyers became the first female U.S. bobsledder to win multiple Olympics medals (she took home the bronze in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics), while Lauryn Williams is one of only five people in history to win medals at both the Summer and Winter Olympics (she was part of the gold medal-winning women's 4x100 relay team at the 2012 London Olympics).

Now that the Olympics have ended, Meyers has another big milestone ahead -- she's getting married in April. Meyers' fiance Nic Taylor proposed while she was on the medal stand at another competition.

"I have my dress fitting on Thursday, so I'm pretty excited about that," she said. "I'm super excited about April and my wedding, and I get to share this with my family and my fiance and everything, so I'm really looking forward to it."

Meyers plans to visit Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite at 3 p.m. Monday to show off her medals and share her Olympics stories with patients.

She will be honored at Arbor Place Mall in her hometown of Douglasville on Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
