(The News Journal/Delaware) A Delaware soldier had a happy reunion Thursday with his two daughters after he spent a year of service in Afghanistan.
Staff Sgt. Darin Lorenzen, accompanied by his wife Elizabeth, were greeted by the student body and staff of the Christina Early Learning Center at the surprise homecoming celebration with his daughters Kayla, 4, and Samantha, 3.
The school was decorated with flags and students and staff had been asked to dress in red, white and blue for the occasion.
Homecoming banners and signs had been made by students in support of their peers, said Shannon O'Neill, principal of the school.
BJ's Whoesale Club donated a cake and provided the family with a year's membership, O'Neill said.
