ATLANTA -- If you're expecting excitement along the lines of a Fulton County Stadium explosion -- sorry.

It's time for the canopy over the former Georgia 400 toll plaza to come down, and it will come down quietly and gradually.

The sound of quarters falling through the plaza is long gone. Work crews have been busy since January removing electrical equipment and the booths where the coins used to disappear. On Tuesday, the big trucks will roll in and workers will begin removing the canopy over the old cash lanes of Georgia 400 north.

The worker was originally scheduled to begin Monday, but was postponed by rainy weather.

Traffic will continue to flow in the old cruise lanes while workers take down the canopy over the cash lanes.

Once the canopy is removed over the northbound cash lanes, work will move to the southbound side. The entire project should be completed by fall.
