11Alive will celebrate the 29th anniversary of the 11Alive Community Service Awards, April 1, 2004. The Community Service Awards will be broadcast April 3, at 8:30 P.M.Each year the Community Service Awards honors eleven outstanding local volunteers who have demonstrated selfless devotion for the betterment of the community. 11Alive News Anchors Brenda Wood and Wes Sarginson host the live, prime time telecast and the proceeds go to charity. This year the dinner/telecast will benefit Piedmont Hospital Emergency Department. The 2004 Community Service Awards recipients are:

Bernard Marcus For a life of business and community leadership, including co-founding The Home Depot, establishment of The Marcus Institute for children and adolescents with disorders of the brain and the creation of The Marcus Foundation.
