The U.S. Navy will spend $600,000 to change the appearance of a swastika-shaped barracks complex in Coronado, California.
Controversy erupted after aerial images of the buildings showed up on Google Earth.
The Navy was first alerted to the swastika-like pattern of the complex shortly after the barracks complex was built in 1967.
They decided not to make any changes at the time because the swastika pattern wasn't visible from the ground.
Navy officials deny the design was intentional and say they are making the changes now because they don't want to be associated with such a hateful symbol.
