Atlanta police released a surveillance video they say will help them solve a gay hate crime. The video shows a man and a woman entering a Chevron gas station on Spring Street shortly before shots were fired in front of Wet Bar, a gay nightclub next to the gas station.

Police said the man in the surveillance video is the person witnesses identified as the shooter. The woman who was with him is wanted for questioning.

The video shows the man and woman getting out of gold Chevy Blazer that was parked at a gas station pump. They both walked inside.

Police said the man used gay slurs to two men who were standing in line at the counter. Officer Darlene Harris is the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender liaison for the Atlanta Police Department. She described what happened in the store.

?A gentleman walks in, starts antagonizing the two men with homosexual slurs while they?re at the register,? she said.

The two men at the register walked to the Chevron from Wet Bar next door to buy some snacks. After getting snacks, police say the two men walked back to the Wet Bar. Officer Harris said the Chevy Blazer pulled out of the Chevron parking lot and headed south on Spring Street passing the night club.

Witnesses described seeing the same man from the Chevron inside the Blazer.

?That same gentleman is identified as leaning out of the passenger side of the vehicle with a handgun and shooting four to five rounds out of that window,? Officer Harris said.

Harris said the man yelled more slurs as he fired the shots. One of the shots hit one of the men who walked from the Chevron in the leg. He was treated and released from Grady Hospital.

The pictures from the surveillance camera at the gas station are very clear. Police are hopeful someone will recognize the man and woman and call police.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,000 reward to anyone who can identify the two people. Crime Stoppers can be reached anonymously at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
