A major drug operation that started before dawn Thursday was still going on Thursday night. Federal, state and several local law enforcement agencies are all working together in the metro-wide investigation.
Earlier in the day, police cars lined Isabella Circle in Norcross, as agents executed search warrants at a home there. Similar raids have taken place across Gwinnett County over much of the day.
Agents with the DEA and Gwinnett County police took a total of six people into custody for questioning in the Isabella Circle home. One of the six was taken away on a stretcher after reports of gunfire, although authorities would not confirm any injuries to the man.
A federal spokesperson said the raid is one of a series taken place all over the area, with officers from Conyers, Clarkston and Doraville also on the scene with drug dogs.
Neighbors said they had no idea what was going on.
"We saw the DEA just everywhere -- the same cars were coming and going, and flashing their lights," said one neighbor.
Late Thursday afternoon, investigators raided a home on Arnold Road in Lawrenceville. There was also some activity related to the entire case. Investigators were not revealing details about what was seized, and how the locations were related to the case. They said they were planning to release that information during a Friday news conference.
