ATHENS, Ga. (AP) -- The GBI says a Georgia State Patrol trooper was arrested Thursday in the $9,000 burglary of an Elbert County home where he worked a side job as a landscaper.
Officials say Sgt. Gregory Sanders was charged with two counts of burglary and released from the Elbert County Jail on a $20,000 bond. They said the home was burglarized twice in October.
Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright says Sanders, an Elberton resident assigned to the Washington post, was put on administrative leave.
