"The Morning Mess" on Star 94 FM urged morning listeners to call in and share their strangest pick-up stories.
The new "Morning Mess" trio has been on the air less than a month, but Tuesday their show took a quick turn for the serious. In between the clapping, the laughing, and the singing, they took a phone call from DeKalb County Police Chief Terrell Bolton.
"There is tremendous collateral damage for everyone involved," Bolton said.
Last week, two Dekalb County Police officers were ambushed in a rain of bullets. Officers Ricky Bryant Jr. and Eric Barker were working off-duty at an apartment complex to earn extra money for their large families. The men leave behind a combined eight children.
"We cannot let these bad people that did this to rob these children of an opportunity to get an education," Bolton said during an on-air interview.
"The Morning Mess" agreed; they've launched a special auction to raise money. All week, the station will auction two four-packs of passes to meet teen singing sensations, Jonas Brothers. The group will be in Atlanta on Saturday, January 26. All of the money raised will help the families of the fallen officers.
You can bid on the tickets by calling Star 94 at 404-741-9400 between 5:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. through Thursday. The winners will be announced Friday.
