ATLANTA -- The Georgia woman who married her teenage lover after becoming pregnant with his child walked out of the Metro State Prison Friday morning after serving a two-year sentence for helping the boy escape a youth detention home.
Lisa Lynette Clark, who was 37 when she married the 15-year-old, was sentenced on a charge of hindering the apprehension of the teenager after he escaped from a juvenile home in DeKalb County in February 2006. The boy was later apprehended in Ohio.
Clark's sentence ran concurrent with the nine-month prison term she received in Hall County after she pleaded guilty to the statutory rape of the boy, whom she married in the driveway of a retired judge's home in November 2005. She was arrested days later.
Clark must report to a Douglas County probation office immediately. She must also tell the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office where she plans to live since she is a registered sex offender.
Officials say she is banned from Hall and Dawson counties.
Clark's husband is now 17 years old and living in Texas with his mother, his grandmother told 11Alive News.
?He's confused about the situation, and I think he wants her for the sex part of it. He?d like her to get a job and support him. But he also likes his private life with his girlfriends, of which he has numerous ones,? she said.
The baby is now 2 years old and in the care of guardians who are attempting to get permanent custody.
The case prompted Georgia lawmakers to change the state?s marriage laws. Legislators voted to close a loophole that allows children under the age of 16 to marry if a pregnancy is involved.
