NFL Cornerback Ahmad Carroll, who plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars but is a native of Atlanta, was arrested around 3 a.m. Saturday. The arrest, which took place at a restaurant, was for drug and gun charges.

Carroll, 23, was released on bond after attending court at 9 a.m. He is charged with carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a pistol without a license, possession of MDMA (ecstasy), and possession of a firearm during the commitment of a felony.

Carroll was the Packers' first-round draft pick in 2004.

Odie Donald, whose best friend is Ahmad Carroll's older brother, was surprised at the arrest.

"I've heard his name and heard things about him for years," Donald said.

"Everybody loved him, talked about how good of a guy he was."

One of Carroll's teachers at Douglas High School told 11Alive that he too was very surprised to hear about the charges because he knows Carroll and his family very well.
