ATLANTA -- Atlanta Braves pitcher Matt Marksberry has woken up from a medically-induced coma, according to a post from his brother.
The 26-year-old went to the hospital for a colonoscopy at an Orlando hospital on Tuesday because of severe stomach issues he had been suffering from for more than a week, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.
During the procedure, Marksberry had a seizure and his lung collapsed. At one point, he was placed on life support, sources told 11Alive Sports.
By Thursday night, he was off of life support and was breathing on his own, sources said.
On Friday, his brother Ethan posted that he had awakened.
Marksberry's family has traveled from their home in Ohio to be with him in the hospital.
