Commuter Dude: Noisy Midtown plate finally silenced

ATLANTA -- It took some persistence, but Commuter Dude convinced the city of Atlanta to silence some noisy metal plates in midtown.

The plates were placed on 8th Street near Juniper to cover work the city is doing to fix an ongoing water leak. The problem is, crews failed to properly secure two of the plates.

"I haven't had a good night's sleep in two weeks," said Angie, a resident of a nearby apartment complex.

Commuter Dude contacted the city's Department of Watershed Management for several days in a row until crews returned with some asphalt to secure and silence the plates.

"It's a huge difference," said Angie. "We're all able to sleep through the night."

The city says crews are scheduled to return and fix the leak so they can remove the plates.
