Cops: Suspect pepper-sprayed Goodwill clerk before stealing register drawer

WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- Police say a man walked inside a thrift store chain and pepper-sprayed a clerk before walking off with the cash register drawer, and they need the public's help to find him.

The incident happened on May 13 around 1:30 in the afternoon at the Goodwill on Hwy 92 in Woodstock, police said.

According to investigators, the middle-aged man had "surveyed" the register near the front of the store before he approached her and released the pepper spray. He then got away in a silver or gray Honda Oddesy van in an unknown direction.

Police said the man was heavy-set with some facial hair and was wearing a plaid shirt, blue jeans, black shoes and a camo "safari" hat.

Right now, police have not been able to identify the suspect, but they think he could be behind two other Goodwill robberies in the metro-Atlanta area.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to call Woodstock Police investigators at 770-592-6012 or the tipline at 770-592-6021.
