One teen injured, another killed in Wendy's parking lot shooting

Teen killed in shooting in NW Atlanta

ATLANTA -- One teen is dead and another injured after a shooting near an Atlanta Wendy's.

Police said they responded to a Wendy's parking lot near the intersection of Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway NW and Hamilton E. Holmes Drive NW around 3:30 p.m.

That's where they found one teen with injuries that later proved fatal.

Police said a vehicle apparently left the scene traveling to the 100 block of Fairburn Road. That's where police found a second victim they believe was shot at the same location.

Investigators said that victim, also a teen, was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition and was said to be in surgery late Wednesday afternoon.

Police said they believe the incident involved a red Lexus and a black square vehicle of an unknown make or model.

"There was some type of exchange and then the gunfire," Homicide Commander Lt. Charles Hampton said.

Investigators spent the afternoon interviewing witnesses in hopes of understanding exactly what happened at the location.
