Carjacking suspect shot, killed by police Sunday morning

The suspect allegedly pulled a gun on a police officer.

CLARKESVILLE, GA - A man who allegedly pulled a gun on a Habersham County deputy Sunday morning was shot to death by the officer.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, police stopped a vehicle being driven by Christopher Collins, 24, of Cleveland, Ga, around 9:20 am.

A BOLO for the vehicle and Collins had been broadcasted to local police in reference to an alleged aggravated assault involving a gun in White County and an attempted car-jacking, also involving a gun, in Toccoa, Ga., earlier that morning.
The GBI said that, during the stop, Collins failed to comply with the deputy’s repeated commands to show his hands. Collins then got out of the vehicle, according to police, with a gun. The deputy fired his weapon at Collins, shooting him dead on the scene.
No officers were injured during the incident.
