Fatal shooting at southwest Atlanta apartment complex

A 25-year-old was identified as the victim in a fatal shooting at an apartment complex in Southwest Atlanta.

ATLANTA -- Atlanta Police are investigating a fatal shooting at a Southwest Atlanta apartment complex Tuesday evening.

It happened shortly after 10 p.m. in the 400 block of Fairburn Road, Southwest.

One person died from the gunshot injuries. He’s been identified as 25-year-old Terrance Paige.

Police believe there is more than one suspect involved in the fatal shooting. We’re told the suspects fled the scene in a black car.

The car was later found abandoned. It was located at 3000 Martin Luther King.

Witnesses tell police the victim was on the second level of an apartment building visiting friends. Paige was shot while standing on the balcony.

Police believe this is not a random act. We’re told the victim was targeted.

Witnesses describe hearing several gunshots and fearing for their lives.

“I’m scared now because I walk out of my door every day and feel there’s a bullet out here with my name on it,” says John Stafford. “I shouldn’t feel like that in a city that I was raised in my lifetime.”

Police say it’s a miracle no one else was struck by the bullets. Investigators do not have a motive at this time. They’re urging anyone with information to contact police.
