Several Atlanta schools among top Historically Black Colleges and Universities

Spelman College in Atlanta, Ga., took the top spot among the nation's historically black colleges and universities, according to the annual U.S. News & World Report rankings.

The annual survey was released Tuesday.

Spelman College was followed by Howard University in Washington, D.C., and Hampton University in Virginia. Other Atlanta schools in the top 20 include Morehouse College and Clark Atlanta.

The report ranks colleges and universities within several categories, including  National UniversitiesNational Liberal Arts CollegesRegional Universities and Regional Colleges and Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
