Hall County releases details in late August drowning on Lake Lanier

HALL COUNTY, Ga. -- Investigators say they have recovered the body of a man who went missing from Lake Lanier in late August.

Officials with the Hall County Sheriff's Office said they recovered the body of 53-year-old Gregory Todd Walker of Cumming, Ga. on Aug. 24.

Walker was reported missing earlier that day after a family member reported that they were unable to contact him.

Deputies responded to a lakeside property owned by Walker in the 8000 block of Beachwood Drive in Murrayville, Ga.  There, investigators found personal items belonging to the victim near the dock.

As the county's dive team was preparing to search the area, Walker's body was located about 40 yards offshore.

The victim was sent to the DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Office where the cause of death was confirmed a drowning. No foul play is suspected.
